LET'S REGREEN THE PLANET TOGETHER
Together with Justdiggit, we are regreening degraded land in Central Tanzania by bringing back trees. Therefore, we are helping to remove carbon from the atmosphere, regreen square meters of dry land, capture water in the ground and positively impact the lives of local communities.
WHY DO WE 'DIG IN'?
Our mission is to contribute to a sustainable future and reduce the waste in logistics. We focus on empty kilometres and want to ensure fewer trucks on the road. However, we want to do more to stop climate change.
The transport sector has a significant impact on the climate. By 2050, the sector's CO2 emissions must fall by 90% compared to 1990.
In the meantime, we do not want to sit still at ChainCargo. By partnering with Justdiggit, we take responsibility for our impact on the environment and take an extra step towards a greener world.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
By donating to Justdiggit projects, we are helping to regenerate trees. Over a period of 20 years these trees will remove tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere
as they grow.
Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR), or Kisiki
Hai, is a technique used to regrow cutdown trees and support new, naturally occurring sprouts to grow.
The restored trees sequester CO2 over a period of 20 years, prevent erosion and ensure that water can easily enter the ground again. With the help of FMNR and rainwater harvesting techniques, the farmers can make their land green and fertile again.
Justdiggit has already brought back over 9 million trees in Africa, and we hope to help increase this number.
INTEGRATION WITH THE
CHAIN CARGO SOLUTION
As of the 1st of April, we calculate CO2 emissions for every shipment booked via the ChainCargo platform, and we will offset 100% of those carbon emissions.
We added a CO2 overview to the ChainCargo platform, so our shippers are aware of how much CO2 emissions are released per transport and how much CO2 is removed from the air by regenerated trees via Justdiggit.
In the near future, our customers will be able to compensate for their mileage. In that case, the emissions will be offset up to 200%.
