As Lead Business Analyst you are responsible for improving ChainCargo’s processes, products, services, and software. The Business Analyst is a bridge between technical and business functions within the company, and works primarily with the Product Owner, the UIUX team and the software developers.  

You will have a close working relationship with the Product Owner to gather and formulate requirements for new features. Using your knowledge of the system, processes and the wider industry, you will then be accountable for the functional fit and quality of the solution.

Main Responsibilities 

  • Define winning solutions for the ChainCargo product: gathering and documenting requirements, uncovering the true root need, reconciling conflicting expectations, spotting underlying information flows and dependencies, and then translating them into well-structured and verified user stories and acceptance criteria 

  • Inspire process improvements: analyzing business processes, spotting areas of waste, and creating new workflows to improve productivity and customer satisfaction 

  • Support smooth implementations: leading demonstrations, training end users, aligning and coordinating acceptance tests 

  • A true subject matter expert: utilizing knowledge of the ins-and-outs of the systems, processes and industry to deliver critical insights when and where needed to inform key decisions 

  • Collaborate with everyone for a great product: work with the product owner and business analysts to define requirements, gather and validate feedback from users, defend process decisions to stakeholders, and assist developers to build high-value features

You are an experienced business analyst who can think holistically, across multiple perspectives and scenarios. You are naturally inquisitive and curious, always asking questions to learn more to the root of a problem or need. You can translate business requirements into functional specifications that fits into the current systems while never being afraid to challenge superiors and check whether those requirements are in line with the chosen direction for the overall architecture. 

You must have a critical eye who can be technical in detail but also take a step back and understand the wider picture. A skilled communicator, you can listen, filter and bridge different worlds, whether it’s a customer who needs to book a shipment or a developer who needs to define a data structure. 

You should be independent and self-motivating, who can benefit from a position with lots of responsibility and respect.  

Required:

  • 4+ years of experience as a business analyst, product owner, or similar position 

  • Demonstrable knowledge of supply chain management/logistics 

  • A passion for, and affinity with, IT (you don’t need to be a developer) 

  • A self-organising and independent spirit 

  • Proficiency with writing and conveying user stories and acceptance criteria 

  • Superb English communication skills 
     

Preferred:

  • Evidence of task management, managing lead times and prioritizing workload 

  • Solid understanding of scrum/agile methodology 

  • Proven experience in complete project life cycle: Design, Development, Maintenance 

  • Knowledge of BA tools such as BPMN, use case diagrams and sequence diagrams 

  • Advanced Excel knowledge 

  • Experience with software development cycles 

  • An undergraduate degree, ideally in a business or technical field 
     

Not needed but good to have:

  • Good fluency in Dutch, and/or other European languages 

  • Front and/or backend development experience 

  • Familiarity with gherkin/BDD 

  • Experience working with B2B SaaS applications 

  • PO, PM or BA certifications e.g. IREB or BABOK 

  • Solid understanding of APIs, SQL, PowerBI 

  • Experience working in a startup environment and/or smaller teams 

  • Management experience such as a position as team lead or line manager 

  • A visual creative side, such as having worked alongside UI designers
